JASMINE BORLOS

I am an artist based in Newcastle. My practice, using video,

sound and installation, uses colour and analogue filters to create

painterly representations of bodies. In this sense the work pulls

on the experience of facial recognition resulting in the subject

changing from  familiar to  alien, using concepts developed by

Freud, such as the uncanny, to address the relationship between

something that is both frightening, yet familiar. The aim of the

video installation and performance is to position the viewer in

suspense of a climax. The digital layers, combined with the

human form, results in the work montaging figuration.
