Sophie Horne
My work focuses on elements of nature, science, technology and history. I use drawing, photography, sculpture and installation to explore these subjects in detail. My drawings often act as plans or diagrams to construct some of my forms and test ideas of arrangements and formations, or are delicate and detailed replications of a subject, for example observations through a microscope. I select materials to depict lightweight biomorphic forms that suggest an invasion of creatures, cellular structures, growing formations and enlarged microscopic particles such as pollen. My practice is typically centred around circles and a minimal and monochromatic colour scheme.
